Cheri reviewed Her Deadly Game by Robert Dugoni
Review of 'Her Deadly Game' on 'Storygraph'
4 stars
Robert Dugoni is one of my favorite mystery/police procedural/legal thriller authors. he got me hooked with the Tracy Crosswhite series and then I got into the Charlie Jenkins series and now I'm hooked on Keera Duggan. I've read at least one stand-alone, too. Don't get me wrong, I've not loved all of the books I've read but he's got a great ratio.
When Her Deadly Game came up on NetGalley, I couldn't resist. I think Dugoni writes a great female protagonist and the cases are always interesting, even if the way they play out doesn't hit the mark (I remember the fourth book in the Crosswhite series making me very unhappy...).

Her Deadly Game got me right away and I had a tough time putting the book down. I was going to read my ebook copy from NetGalley when I saw that both the ebook and audio were available through Kindle Unlimited. I treated myself to a listen in the Kindle iOS app while the ebook was open. I didn't realize it had the read-along feature that highlighted where in the text the audiobook was. What fun!
I liked the family dynamic that the three sisters working along with Dad in the family law firm. I can see some interesting things coming up with that in future books. As well as with Keera's relationship with Rossi. Seeing some old friends from the Crosswhite series showing up was nice, too.
I had to knock a star off because of the way the crime was done. Interesting but it was... well, I don't want to say. The book is still definitely worth the read and I don't want to spoil anything. I'm excited to read the next book in the series so it obviously didn't turn me off.
Big thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for hooking me up!
