Review of 'Ghost Soldiers' on 'Goodreads'

I'd heard of the Bataan Death March, but didn't have any notion of what it actually entailed, or its aftermath. The book is an extraordinarily difficult, but ultimately rewarding, book about the POW camp where the March's survivors were kept, and the heroic raid that freed them. Sides is a terrific author who captures such wonderful details from source material... it felt much more like a contemporary account instead of one written 60 years later.
