Paul reviewed Guns of the Dawn by Adrian Tchaikovsky
Review of 'Guns of the Dawn' on 'Goodreads'
5 stars
A genuinely gripping historical fantasy. Adrian Tchaikovsky really does have a talen for telling huge stories while keeping the narrative focussed very much on the individuals affected and Guns of the Dawn is a very difficult book to put down.
Although this is a fantasy book, the fantasy elements stay very much in the background for much of the story. They are significant, but not the focus. The focus is on the people caught up in a war not of their making, how they survive and how it affects them.
I would heartily recomment this.
