Striking a perfect balance of journalistic detachment with his own emotional connection to the events, [a:Dave Cullen|1116816|Dave Cullen|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1438443482p2/1116816.jpg] conveys the very human story of Columbine, detailing the factors that led to and followed the tragedy as well as the terror of the attack itself. I especially appreciated his analysis of the killers: by not presenting them as monsters, he makes the important point that these seemed like relatively normal kids to most who knew them, including their own parents. The disastrous pairing of their personalities could be repeated--with similar results--and is one of the most fascinating factors of the tragedy. [b:Columbine|10447716|Columbine|Dave Cullen|https://s.gr-assets.com/assets/nophoto/book/50x75-a91bf249278a81aabab721ef782c4a74.png|5803859] is a large book, dense with details and characters, but Cullen's solid writing keeps the pace moving at all times. Would definitely recommend.
