This 50th illustrated edition is beautiful
4 stars
Detailed scientific story of the oceans written for a general audience - the life, currents, depths, human history, exploration, interplay with air, land, and solar system. Written shortly before the implications of movement of plate tectonics are developed, nonetheless compelling and conveys the scientific process of wonder and revision, with her annotations from 10 years later and extensive preface and afterword covering recent years contributed for this 50th anniversary edition with photographs illustrating almost every page.
