Paul reviewed Raising the stones by Sheri S. Tepper
A strong sequel to Grass
4 stars
There are a lot of characters involved in this novel, and this does make it quite slow initially. That said, by the time second part of the book gets started, the various characters are all very well established and the book becomes a fascinating and gripping mediation on the power of legends and the impact of religion on society.
It's pitched as the second book in the Arbai Series but it isn't any sort of a sequel to Grass, even though the Arbai are mentioned a couple of times. The connection is much more thematic than narrative.
