I initially quit after the first few chapters because it seemed more like the premise of a porno or, and I'm going to date myself here, a Penthouse Forum letter. After reading another book about a sex worker, I decided to give it another shot. And I'm glad I did. I ended up enjoying the family dynamics and the honesty of the two MCs. And holy shit snacks, the sex was smokin'.
So much potential with an interesting concept but the over-the-top bad guys and overblown dialogue, I nearly quit several times. If Phoebe wasn’t in the book at all, I would immediately bump it up a star but there’s no way I buy Faye being her friend for years and her being such an evil person. And the way Faye continues to talk with her! Ugh. Just so much ugh throughout. There was plenty of drama and angst without all the extra. Sometimes less is more. I had other issues but these were the big ones that kept me from loving this book.
Lots of fun to listen to. Wish there had been more though.
I had a great time reading this one. Absolutely love the humor and characters.
