Queenie

I think Bridget Jones’s Diary is a bad comparison. I’m pretty sure that one was comic. Queenie is serious. It reminded me a bit of Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine, but it was better. More realistic, and not making a joke of a neurodiverse person’s experience.

2+—Queenie didn't achieve everything it set out to, nor its billing. Too much time was spent on descriptions of her sex life and illness (that is, its physical manifestation—more might have been done to address its importance/impact), while not enough was spent on the social commentary. I spent most of the book wanting to shake her by the shoulders for her self-abuse and her acceptance of abuse from others. For the most part, I liked her squad.
