First in the "Chronicles of Amber" series of fantasy books. The story begins in the hospital when the protagonist wakes up from a coma with amnesia, his true identity unknown to him. He begins his adventure by visiting his sister and we follow him through the story as he slowly regains his lost memory and real purpose as a member of a royal family of Amber.

It only took 37 years for me to finish this book. It wasn't my intention to take so long. I started reading this when I was 10 years old. I can't remember why I didn't finish it only that I never had. The interesting part, I was half way done with the book as I remembered that much.

I am glad that I finished it was interesting as an adult. Kind of like re-reading Treasure Island. I don't know if I'm going to attempt the rest of the series but at least this one is completed.
