When literature student Anastasia Steele is drafted to interview the successful young entrepreneur Christian Grey for her campus magazine, she finds him attractive, enigmatic and intimidating. Convinced their meeting went badly, she tries to put Grey out of her mind -- until he happens to turn up at the out-of-town hardware store where she works part-time.

Review of 'Fifty Shades of Grey (Fifty Shades, #1)' on 'Goodreads'

"I know it's bad. But could it be THAT bad?"

Yes.

I gave it halfway to prove or redeem itself. I gave up after that.

I wish I could give fewer than a star and have it count.

Review of 'Fifty Shades of Grey (Fifty Shades, #1)' on 'Goodreads'

It's not romantic, and it's only sexy until they start having sex. After that it's repetitive and depressing. Best character of the book is the roommate who wants to throw Mr. Emotional Abuse out on his ass.
I bought this book because it's the first time I'd ever heard of fan fiction being published for money. But after this book, I reckon publishing will remain difficult for fanfic authors.
