"These are the stories Lester del Rey considers his best from a rich production that …

Collection of short stories by Frederik Pohl.

Technology in the stories hasn't aged very well but lots of different ideas well executed. As with every collection it was a bit of hit-and-miss for me but overall I can recommend this collection, should have something for everyone

ich halte das Buch für eine gute Einführung / einen guten Ratgeber zum Thema "Autismus im Erwachsenenalter". Gut lesbar, kompakt, informativ.

Dragonriders of Pern for a young adult audience...

short plot description: Menolly, the young daughter of the Master of Half-Circle Seahold on Pern, is unhappy in her life. She is assisting Petiron, the Harper of the hold educating the children and entertaining and discovers her gift for music. Unfortunately on Pern only men can be Harpers, so after Petiron's death she is forbidden to make music anymore. She decides to leave the hold and her adventures on Pern begin...

my thoughts: I'm reading the "Dragonriders of Pern" series in the published order, this was the third published novel and takes place shortly after the events of the first two novels. Different to the first two novels this was written for a younger audience and proved very successful. That said in my view it's typically for that genre, a young teenager, misunderstood by family and almost everyone has to …

Margaret Atwood: Dancing Girls and Other Stories (Paperback, 1993, Bantam)

14 glimpses into ordinary lifes...

short plot description: there is no overarching plot to these stories and only one story might be considerer science fiction. We accompany several people for a short time during the course of their lifes.

my thoughts: generally I liked all the stories, Atwood has been one of my favourite novelists for some time, though this is the first time I read her short stories. Only thing bothering me was that some stories ended rather abrupt.

my advice: for everyone liking well crafted prose about normal people

Greg Bear: Dead lines (Hardcover, 2004, Ballantine Books)

Not my cup of [hot beverage of choice].

Bear's scifi books are my favourites, never could get into his fantasy and techno thriller work.
