Review of 'More Than This' on 'Goodreads'

In the past four years, Mikayla has dated her high school boyfriend. During her prom, she discovers her best friend has been hitting him on the side for the past two years. She gets swept away to another prom that night by Jake, the sexy boy from another school with a hero complex. What a terrible night, huh? Haha! You have seen nothing yet. After their magical evening, Jake accompanies Mikayla back home only to find that her entire family has been murdered, and it has set her house on fire, leaving her homeless. Once again, Jake saves the day and takes her home to be with his family to begin an extremely unhealthy, insta-love relationship.

It took all my willpower not to DNF this book. The story is one of the most unrealistic I’ve ever read!

The characters seemed like cardboard cutouts attempting to convince me they were in …

Although it works really well, it feels extremely intrusive. Right from the start, we’re thrown into the deep end with the squid. Although there are a few chaps in the story, it’s mostly women doing (usually compromising) foodgasm, the almost constant panty shot angles, and the objectification that quickly becomes uncomfortable. While the story is impressive, it becomes a bit too much for me, especially in a contemporary setting. I’ll give subsequent volumes a pass.

Review of 'Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon, Vol. 2' on 'Goodreads'

There is a slight improvement in the storyline from the previous volume, so this volume gets a star more than the previous volume. Sailor Moon: Pretty Guardian, Volume 2. The story becomes a little more detailed, and we get a sense of the plot as well. It’s much more enjoyable now!

Although I love the art style, something still bothers me. There is literally a ZERO development for the side characters outside of Chiba Mamoru/Tuxedo Mask, Usagi Tsukino/Sailor Moon, and a glimpse of Queen Beryl’s past.

Usagi is the focus of this book, and the world obsesses so much about her it’s impossible to ignore her. If you are not an Usagi fan, you are most likely to be VERY disappointed. Is there any point to including them at all? I don’t get it.

There was Sailor Venus pretending to be a princess when she was not one. In the …

I love Sailor Moon.

I watched all the anime (the original one, that is).

Anyhow. There was nothing worthwhile about this third volume. I found it to be very confusing and messy. I can't even begin to describe how the translation has been done - it's like it's been done by a child.

The anime handled the plot better as well. In my opinion, the original manga is too self-destructive. So far, Usagi has killed herself twice because she didn't want Mamoru to live without her. I'm not interested in that kind of life.

I think the anime's creators realized that romanticizing suicide for loved ones was unwise, so they changed it. Likewise, I love it this way.

That's just my opinion. Perhaps that's why I've never really liked Romeo and Juliet. The final battle was messy, with lots of drama, twists, and tears. There was nothing there. I find …

Reading this brought back so many memories.

As a kid, watching Sailor Moon on TV, I was obsessed with Serena’s (Usagi) and Darien’s (Mamoru) relationship.

Unfortunately, the manga is a mess. There is poor character development, cluttered panels, and a lack of focus on the overall story.

In terms of pace, it is incredibly fast. The story took days, not weeks. Although it may seem unfair to compare the manga with the anime, this read disappointed me, since I am a huge Sailor Moon fan. The filler episodes improved the plot greatly. The villains got a chance of being evil and to discover who they are.

The anime was full of suspense and drama. In fact, there were a few battle scenes where I wasn’t sure about the Sailor Warriors’ victory, and they even lost some battles, like normal heroines do sometimes. The manga rushed through all of that quickly. …

Review of 'Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon, Vol. 4 (Pretty Soldier Sailor Moon Renewal Edition, #4)' on 'Goodreads'

My claim that this series was on hold was a lie. As for Sailor Moon Vol. 4, I have already read it. Despite the choppy conditions, the situation remains the same.

The best part of this was getting to spend time with Makoto, Sailor Jupiter. This allowed readers to see through her tough exterior and see her soft side. Is there a hint of romance as well? It’s even more interesting to see how the time traveling is affecting Usagi.

I find it interesting that she is jealous of Chibiusa and the attention Mamoru gives her. As soon as Mamoru meets Chibiusa, he understands who she is and how important she is to him. Usagi. Let’s be honest, she’s selfish. I understand that in both lives; she has had little time with Mamoru. There is still a lot of work to be done to build trust and love between them. …

Set in the smoggy streets of Victorian London, this collection of short stories centers on the young Earl Cain, a skilled poison expert who constantly encounters intrigue. Occasionally, he goes on adventures with his younger half-sister Mary Weather and his butler Riff. As an expert in poisons, Cain can often identify the killers thanks to this knowledge.

It’s not clear to me why so many horror manga are episodic; if there were one mystery per volume, I would have more time to get to know the characters and give the mysteries some depth. Cain bases his conclusions on information that is not given to the reader. It would also be nice if the mysteries were present so that the reader could solve them with Cain. Several action sequences were difficult to follow, and I often had to reread them to figure out what was going on.

The artwork, the outfits, …

Review of 'Bitten' on 'Goodreads'

The plot was boring, but I couldn’t finish this book because the writing was terrible.

The problem began when Elena returned to her pack. Despite her troubled past, she quickly returned to the wolves, defying her desire for a normal life and strength as a woman. Phillip initially put me off because I thought he was being too domineering. He demanded she not go out alone at night, like she can’t protect herself. It also made me dislike Elena because she just accepted, despite her excuse of wanting to maintain their relationship, that he didn’t understand why she needed to turn into a wolf, and therefore couldn’t be told: “Hey, mister! I’m an adult! I can go where I want to, alone if I choose!”

Clayton is probably the most disgusting love interest I have encountered in a book. Am I the only one who finds their first sex scene …
