I love atmospheric, historical fiction that bridges past and present - and I should have loved this. There were a lot of pieces I did love, but it was too large a cast of characters, with too many coincidences and confusing transitions.
And I hate putting spoilers in reviews, so I won’t, but I’m just deeply unhappy with the solution to the mystery. I honestly wish there were some way to add a trigger warning of sorts. I just... no. I wish I’d seen it coming sooner, I wouldn’t have finished the book.
