THE NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER

ONE OF THE NEW YORK TIMES BEST THRILLERS OF THE YEAR

“I loved this book. It gave me the same waves of happiness I get from curling up with a classic Christie...The alternating points of view keep you guessing, and guessing wrong.” — Alex Michaelides, #1 New York Times bestselling author of The Silent Patient

"Evok[es] the great Agatha Christie classics…Pay close attention to seemingly throwaway details about the characters’ pasts. They are all clues.” -- New York Times Book Review

A wedding celebration turns dark and deadly in this deliciously wicked and atmospheric thriller reminiscent of Agatha Christie from the New York Times bestselling author of The Hunting Party.

This murder mystery that takes place during an extremely pretentious, extravagant wedding, and surprise, the bride and groom are both thoroughly unlikeable. Also, some of this story is predictable, while other parts seem like wild coincidences. And yet, I enjoyed this very much. The manner in which each character's story unfolds, and then how they come together, is effective and satisfying.

This was fun, and I do recommend it.

3+. The Guest List gets extra credit for twists. Not only are there multiple possible murderers, there are multiple possible victims. The way everything/one is tied together is reminiscent of some of the big-cast Agatha Christie stories.

Pretty much all of the characters are unpleasant, so. . . . The story is told in usually short chapters in the voice of the bride, the groom, the best man, the maid of honor, the plus one, the event planner, etc.

Overall, I'd recommend this if any of the above appeals to you, but I wouldn't suggest that you be in any particular hurry to move it up the TBR list (you don't have to read it right now).
