While I really liked The Maze Runner, I felt quite disappointed with this one. While I was expecting some backstory, and perhaps the genesis of WICKED (which we don't heard about at all in this book), this was clearly not what I was expecting.
Seen apart the book is a classical run & hide, in a dystopian destroyed world, where a group of people (some teenagers) try to survive after the sun destroyed almost the entire earth. One thing really bothered me : Sooo... most of the earth have been destroyed either by the sun or by the rising waters, the only humans remaining are fighting for their survival in small groups... WHY THE FUCK WOULD YOU WANT TO ERASE WHAT'S LEFT WITH A VIRUS ?! Like ok the earth hasn't enough ressources... after billions of people were eradicated ?! Ressources of what ?! This part didn't make sense …
