I'm a sucker for retelling stories. whether it's from fairy tales or from classic literature, I love them all. i went into heartless thinking I would love this book because it's a retelling of how the queen of hearts became the queen of hearts. and it's written by one of my favorite authors.
I was slightly disappointed.
I love all of it. I love the romance, I love the background, I even love some of the small details that went into this books. like the mock turtle, for instance.
the reason why I'm a little disappointed is because I didn't think it would do with romance. I would've been happy for them to take her heart and leave and live their merry life in chess. I would've even been happy if Cath wasn't the queen of hearts.

I still love the book. the writing was a bit slow and it made me set the book aside. I had this book for months and I had to place the book aside to finish.
I never do that.
but, all in all, still a good book.
