Good idea, shaky execution.
There were bits of this I wanted to like, and ingredients that worked for me, but the characterization was so uneven as to regularly throw me out of the book and go, "wait, what?" I didn't root for the romance, and it was by and far away the weakest part, making me dislike the main characters.
