The Metamorphosis (German: Die Verwandlung) is a novella written by Franz Kafka which was first published in 1915. One of Kafka's best-known works, The Metamorphosis tells the story of salesman Gregor Samsa, who wakes one morning to find himself inexplicably transformed into a huge insect (German ungeheures Ungeziefer, literally "monstrous vermin") and subsequently struggles to adjust to this new condition. The novella has been widely discussed among literary critics, with differing interpretations being offered.
A very gripping, multifaceted story about a man, who, once the head of his family, fell into the position of insignificance, into the position of an insect ( wink ).
The book is bleak, sad, confusing and downright tragic, combined with it's rather short length, it is a great book for people wanting to start their journey into the stories of Kafka.
I'm not sure what to make of this other than perhaps the futility of life. Will need to let it marinade.

The ending was really weird, like I understand Gregor dying but Kafka literally ended the book by talking about how Gregor's sister suddenly had big tits bc she went through puberty while everyone was stressed out.
I mean it's a totally mundane observation I guess, which seems to follow the theme of "wow what a fucked up situation I'm in, let me worry about literally everything that isn't the fact that I'm a bug"
তিনতারা একটি খতরনাক রেটিং। পাঁচতারা মানে অসম্ভব ভালো লাগা, তারজন্যে ব্যাখ্যা লাগেনা। নাইতারা বা একতারা খারাপ লাগা। তাও পার্সনাল প্রেফারেন্স। কিন্তু তিনতারা হলো ভালো লাগা-না লাগার মাঝামাঝি একটা জিনিস। রাজা যযাতির মত স্বর্গের পথে মধ্য আকাশে সাসপেন্ডেড।
পূর্ববর্তী প্রোগ্রেস লগে বলেছি কাফকা আমার হজম হতে চায় না, এবারও হয়নি। খাওয়ার সময় কখনো কখনো মুখরোচক লেগেছিল তবে পুরোটা খেয়ে মনে হচ্ছে তেমন কিছু না।
মাঝে মাঝে সুররিয়ালিজমের মধ্যে স্বস্তা বাঙলা সিনেমার মত রিয়ালিটি ঢুকে যাচ্ছিল, মিশ খেলো না বুঝি।
এসব কারনে ২টো তারা কমলো।
তিনটে তারার একটা বলার ভঙ্গির জন্য, কখনো কখনো বেশ শক্তিশালী লেখা মনে হয়েছে। আরেকটা গল্প কাঠামোর জন্য, তবে পুরোপুরি স্যাটিসফাইড না। আরেকটা বিদগ্ধজনের চাবুক থেকে বাঁচতে। হা হা হা!
