Loved the intersection between art and war. The main character finds himself drawn into battle over his painting - and trying not to get caught in a literal crossfire.
Loved the intersection between humanity and aliens. It's not entirely obvious which group is more humane.
Loved the intersectional family formed by the crew of the Trystero. From the young, but wise captain to the old, but narrowly focused "Sergent" to the quirky pilot and the troubled artist. Some great stuff here.
