Strange Bedfellows
5 stars
Christiane Knight weaves a magical spell of a book with a crumbling Baltimore at its heart.
Merrick Moore, punk rocker, bassist for The Drawback, decides he needs to crash a party in the big house on the outskirts of town. Armed with a couple of six-packs, armored in his party clothes, he wanders into another world. With the help of his friends, new and old, he becomes something he never dreamed of.
I won't spoil it.
Ms. Knight's fantastic world pulses with life. From the fading opulence of House Mirabilis to the kitschy coffee shop, the Frisky Bean, the characters rise to the challenges woven into the tale. And oh, what characters they are. Three tribes of fae, two mortal humans, and one spirit who refuses to be beaten.
The sequel - Cast a Shadow of Doubt - promises more from this universe and I'm here for it.
Highly recommended …

Highly recommended for anybody who likes a bit of magic with their mayhem, and a musical playlist with their reading.
