Characters have no depth, really chiché

1 star

This is again one of those storybooks where I enjoyed the storyline but the characters were underdeveloped to the point they became stereotypical in a bad way. I am not sure whether this was done on purpose as some kind of commentary on old fashioned moralistic fairytales because the characters were so cliché that they almost had to be a joke, no one can write characters like that by accident anymore, right (especially for children)?

Plus there's some dodgy descriptions in there where the young & female character in some places describes how her body feels to her or whatever and it feels really creepy because the character isn't written with the kind of depth where this seems in line with the rest of the depth of the character.
