Significance of psychedelic substances in the History and structure of religions. It attempts to go back into a 2,500-year journey of the psychedelic sacrament through the Greek and Eleusinian mysteries, the origins of Christianity, the Gnostic Gospels, and the Renaissance, and establish a link between psychedelic use and modern liturgical practices.

The book was carefully written and was an easy/enjoyable read. Muraresku was diligent in his search for physical evidence and, despite the abundance of very radical suggestions, was parsimonious in writing conclusive statements leaving several key questions unanswered.

It would have been perfect without the humor and slightly less concern with holding the reader by the hand when discussing technical aspects of the evidence-gathering work.
