Slagar the fox hated Redwall Abbey - its peaceable creatures, its fearless mouse warrior Matthias. He blamed Matthias for the injuries he'd suffered ... but his quest for vengeance would have to be a cunning one, for the knew the power of the legendary Redwall sword.

Above all, he know the Redwallers cherished their young. So Slagar would steal them from under their very noses - and the greatest prize of all would be Matthias's headstrong son, Mattimeo...

More fun in Mossflower

Another fun book. Made more fun by a good audio-cast. Jacques does a great job of bringing the world alive. And it's a world with likeable people. It even is bringing the mid-evil world more understandable too.

I do wish that some of the species werent so evil. Like a good guy rat or weasel. There is a good guy owl here, which the last owl was dubious, yet dangerous. Not to mention another bird of prey late in the book. But I wish not ALL the rats, stoats, weasels, foxes, etc were bad guys. Oh, wait, there was a good guy cat in the last one too. Still, just one rat. gimme one good guy rat.
