Wow. Coming back to the series strong, Allston. What a ride. It still suffers a bit from some cliches (though I don't recall seeing a "maybe—just maybe—" in this book, which is good), but weaves a really unique and interesting story that humanizes Wedge Antilles and also gives some real characterization to Tycho Celchu, Wes Janson, and Hobbie Klivian. The world of Adumar is fascinating, and the third-act twist is thrilling. What is the difference between the New Republic and the Empire? Wedge shows us exactly what it is, and his new rank means he can actually do someone about it, too. This is now probably my favorite X-Wing book.
