Pride and Prejudice is a romance novel by Jane Austen, first published in 1813. The story charts the emotional development of the protagonist, Elizabeth Bennet, who learns the error of making hasty judgments and comes to appreciate the difference between the superficial and the essential. The comedy of the writing lies in the depiction of manners, education, marriage and money in the British Regency. --wikipedia

Review of 'Pride and Prejudice' on 'Goodreads'

a delightful glimpse into an era long gone...

short plot description: centre of the book is the family Bennet, consisting of Mr. and Mrs. Bennet and their five unmarried daughters. The setting is early 19th century England and we follow the chain of events through the eyes of Elizatbeth Bennet (the second eldest daughter)which is started when a young, handsome, rich and unmarried young man moves into the neighbourhood.......

A wonderful read, a light, funny and romantic comedy which even after almost 200 years still has some remarkable insights into the relationship between men and women and the pressures of society. Some parts reminded me of the "screwball comedy" movies of the 1930s.

Minor point: language and grammar felt strange in places which is only to be expected in a novel that old.

My advice: for everyone who likes romantic novels
