It’s Samhain, and Danielle and her friends are laying low in the wilderness Idaho, fresh off the road from their last adventure and hiding out from the magic feds. On Samhain the veil between the living and dead is at its thinnest. Danielle, Brynn, Vulture, Thursday, and Doomsday have to wait out the night, so they share stories around the campfire about magic—in its many forms. Listen with them as they encounter troll cults, murder faeries, and the horrors of the riot cops.

The Immortal Choir

This one is quite different from it's predecessors. The anarchist demon hunters lie low and are telling each other stories of different kinds of magic. It even has some drawn images!

It's basically three prequels woven into a story. I wanted to know more about the other magicians from the first book anyways, especially Rebecca, so this was quite the right book for me. The stories and the discussion of "real" magic and magic magic (nor sure how to put it better) were quite nice.

A moving interlude for fans of the Danielle Cain series that leaves you wanting more

I'm going to be honest, this one is for the fans. The short novella is divided into the telling of three short stories about the dead friends of Danielle's scooby gang, characters who were important to the events of Freedom, Iowa that the reader never never got a chance to know. As an enthusiastic fan of the series, I found this insight and world building to be rewarding and its overall message well-received. I would highly recommend it to other fans of the series. But for those who aren't already fans, this is probably not the place where you want to start. For that, I would strongly and enthusiastically recommend The Lamb Will Slaughter The Lion (2017).

That said, as much I appreciated these additional stories, I do hope that we will get at least one more full story in the Danielle Cain series, because if anything this book …
