Definitely preferred this book to it's predecessor. There was a return to the mood and "flavor" of Ender's Game/Shadow that I really felt was missing from Shadow of the Hegemon. The development of Bean's character was great, but I admit, I miss him as a little kid. Watching all the children grow up is a just a bit sad for me.
