The only thing that stopped me from adoring this book is Miranda; the person I should be rooting for to escape spends all of her time being judgmental (to many people, not just Frederick) and pining over G.P. who felt like a horrible individual and equally snobby.

This isn't to say her part of the book wasn't phenomenal writing. Miranda was a full person with motives and swings and her captivity and mixed emotions were captured amazingly.

The diary format of her entries was an especially nice touch.

She just isn't a person I'd want to be friends with had she never been abducted.

Frederick, however, I adored. He's awful and Self justifying, but also pathetic and sincere in a way that makes you feel bad for him. Then those little moments of a monstrous nature will …
