Nice little window into the Dutch national personality

This book is Dutch, and I read it in Dutch, but I'm reviewing it in English because if you're a native Dutch speaker you already read this book, so you don't need a review. If you would like to read it in English you can find it under the title "Tow-Truck Pluck".

This is a great book for Dutch language learners because, being a children's book, it has lots of pictures and uncomplicated vocabulary. Even better, it has some very lively characters, and if you've lived in the Netherlands, you'll see aspects of the national character mirrored in a lot of the situations in the book. The main character is a little boy with an independent and somewhat rebellious streak who is squatting a top floor flat in an apartment block that I believe is meant to evoke the Bijlmer.
