CW: Gross mishandling of mental illness, abuse and murder of a disabled person, rape (implied, offscreen), major character death

Okay, so - this book is a mess. The ending breaks suspension of disbelief into million tiny pieces, it is beyond stupid (really, nobody checked the mine? A 80 years old woman can overpower young healthy-ish people?), the characters act in unbelievably stupid ways as well. But…

I liked it. I really, really enjoyed reading it (audiobook is great and absolutely sells me on the character voice). It is atmospheric, I could see the forlorn beauty of the place, it was cinematic in a way - like watching a movie mentally. Enjoyed it, despite the unbelievable stupidity
