Chetana reviewed Magic Burns by Ilona Andrews

I liked the 2nd book a lot better than the 1st. Part of the reason might be that learning about a new whole world with different races and a whole new magic system in a book less than 300 pages long was a bit of a stretch. I am more comfortable with the world/magic system now that I have read the 2nd book and I have read a bit more about the MC and the rest of the characters. I love a book with plot, but if a book doesn't have engaging characters I usually will not pick up the next book in the series. I was pretty close to dropping this series, but too many people whose reviews I follow and enjoy like this series and I decided to give it another try and I am not disappointed. So far. I know how fickle my interest is when it comes to a long running series. very few of them hold my interest to last their entire run. That is not to say I am very critical of the books or hard to please. Just that I am very easily distracted by the next shiny book and unless this series can bring my attention back to it I tend to keep pushing picking it up and then I just give up. I am rambling now. I am invested in the story enough that I will pick up the next book soon. I want to read more about Kate and her adventures (or misadventures).
