Fun Characters with an Ending that Plays it Safe

This was enjoyably written. Andy's character was a little thin, but the supporting characters/suspects had distinct personalities and made the story.
The ending here is my biggest issue, as it seems like the author went the safest, least surprising route. I didn't per se want one of the other characters to be the murderer, but making the only homophobic character the killer seemed like a case of the most likely suspect. That made it feel less like a standalone novel and more like a series starter.
I liked that the characters grappled a bit with Andy being a police officer, and I liked the historical detail that most of the characters were vets or otherwise involved in World War 2.
