Orlion reviewed Me talk pretty one day by David Sedaris
Review of 'Me talk pretty one day' on 'Goodreads'
2 stars
David Sedaris apparently writes articles for magazines about his life. It shows. I can see being excited to read an article by him once a month, he's entertaining enough to divert five minutes every few weeks to chuckle a little at his dumb antics.
But a whole book of this? Only in the following circumstances:
Do you:
1) Commute to work or other activities?
2) Is your reading constantly interrupted by bad driving, nosy fellow passengers, or just plain motion sickness?
3) Are you just trying to kill time?
Then this book is for you! For some, it may even be a good book for airline travel (not me, I shudder at the idea of spending so much time with Mr. Sedaris' "musings"). Ultimately, it is a very light read which requires little to no thought. If you do apply some thought, you'll find some 'clever' ordering of the essays (21 down is the 21st essay, or something like that. I really do not care for his 'faux-technique). So treat it as such, and maybe relegate it to bathroom reading.
