This was... this was okay.
It's difficult to judge classics fairly, as one's likely to be so steeped in their derivative works that to criticize a 'progenitor' feels tantamount to slandering a lineage. That said, I found myself largely unmoved by the tale, and a bit dismayed by the glut of all-too-familiar powers ascribed to Dracula -- "moonbeams" indeed.
My single favorite part was hearing Christopher Lee (who narrated this copy of the book) say of Lucy Westenra: "...If looks could kill...!"

This was a fun little tale, one I'd recommend to any fans of fantasy and YA.

PaperbackReader reviewed The Overneath by Peter S. Beagle
Review of 'The Broken Earth Trilogy: The Fifth Season, The Obelisk Gate, The Stone Sky' on 'Goodreads'
5 stars
This was both a fun and satisfying read, and a thoughtfully appropriate ending to the series. It was also a harrowing read, as little goes well in the short term, and hard choices are the flavor of the day.

This was a quick read, and wasn't what I expected, which is less a critique than a simple fact. What it WAS was... complex, sure, cerebral, okay, but also a stilted narrative from an equally stilted character. A touch off-putting.

The audiobooks for this series have thus far been incredibly well done. That said, there were some writing choices that might've looked fine in print, but are jarring and unpleasant in the spoken word.

PaperbackReader reviewed Amusing ourselves to death by Neil Postman
Review of 'Amusing ourselves to death' on 'Goodreads'

A fascinating and well articulated argument, this was a much more compelling book than I expected. While I'm uncertain I'll change any of my viewing habits, my opinions of television's place in the realms of both education and political discourse have been shaken and clarified, respectively. I wholeheartedly recommend this book.

PaperbackReader reviewed Out on blue six by Ian McDonald (Spectra special editions)
Review of 'Out on blue six' on 'Goodreads'
4 stars
I've not read anything from Ian McDonald before, but if this book is typical of his skill, Imma fix that right away.
Take Douglas Adams, William Gibson, and Ogden Nash, blend them together and strain them through Lewis Carroll, and the result might vaguely resemble Out On Blue Six. Excellent, poetic, and zany as hell.

I FINISHED IT.
Y'all, I finished it. This series had been so important to me for so long, and I've finished reading it, and now I don't know what to do with myself.

Holy cow, that might've been the best of the last, I dunno, maybe 6 books or so. That was excellent. Any concerns I may have had regarding Sanderson carrying on where Jordan ended have been thoroughly dispelled. Bring on Book 13!

Kinda sad to finish this one, because while I still have three more to go before I find out how this friggin' series ends, this is the last one Robert Jordan wrote himself. This is his last book, however much of his notes Sanderson might've used for the remaining three. The story continues, but Robert Jordan is done. :(

An absolute delight. I know that boy's pain well, except that I've rarely had quite so many talking animals with the same taste in books as me.
