@creamfresh Between Neuromancer and Snow Crash I fell in love with cyberpunk. Gibson and Stephenson were my pole stars back in the day
@PopTarts@mastodon.lol I absolutely love Snow Crash. I also think it's very interesting how the books are two sides to the cyberpunk coin. Similar visions that diverge in their execution.
I actually grew quite tired of cyberpunk in popular culture, until recently I actually read those two books and they catapulted me back into it. Now I can't get enough.
@creamfresh The 80's and early 90's had a weird optimistic vibe to their fictional hellscapes. The TV show that perfectly complements those books is Max Headroom. I didn't appreciate back then just how on-the-nose many of their ideas about the future were!
