Brent Weeks has the capacity to surprise me like few other authors I know. At several points during this book I literally stopped reading with my mouth hanging open going "Wait, ... what? Umm ... what?" After that, I had to reevaluate all of my assumptions about this universe, like all of them. Absolutely, totally fabulous.
