This series never disappoints! I love it so much! Now I have to wait a year to find out ... never mind. You'll see.

I'm a 40something year old reader who likes mostly fantasy fiction, but can wander off into other fields on occasion. I've been a bookworm my whole life, and I tell my kids and anyone else who'll listen that 1, reading is never a waste of time, no matter what you're reading, [this in response to those who tell me I should only read nonfiction], and 2, if you're a reader you're never bored. Book limbo, however, is often a thing for me. I'd got a tun of stuff to read, but don't feel like reading any of it.

Loved this book, and am continuing the series. However, I think the narrator frequently is getting himself into his own trouble, and then complaining about the consequences. :) May be part of his character arc, however, because older Hadrian is frequently commenting on his behavior as a young man with some criticism.

Loved this, for the most part, even the scientific explanations which I can see some finding boring. The only reason I'm giving it a 4 rather than a 5 is uneven pacing. It was a page turner at times, but tended to lag in others. I understand this, because it required a lot of world building etc, but I think it could have been done more evenly.

An amazing opening to a fascinating series. I've set out to reread the books I've read, the first 3 or so, and read as many of the rest as I can. I love this, particularly the audio version which is read by several, giving it depth and life.
