I'm a 40something year old reader who likes mostly fantasy fiction, but can wander off into other fields on occasion. I've been a bookworm my whole life, and I tell my kids and anyone else who'll listen that 1, reading is never a waste of time, no matter what you're reading, [this in response to those who tell me I should only read nonfiction], and 2, if you're a reader you're never bored. Book limbo, however, is often a thing for me. I'd got a tun of stuff to read, but don't feel like reading any of it.

I'm glad this book was short, because I found it a bit of a slog. Much moreso than the first book in the series. For a short book it seemed to move at a snail's pace, though looking back quite a bit happened.

However, I think the narrator frequently is getting himself into his own trouble, and then complaining about the consequences. :) May be part of his character arc, however, because older Hadrian is frequently commenting on his behavior as a young man with some criticism.
