I'm a 40something year old reader who likes mostly fantasy fiction, but can wander off into other fields on occasion. I've been a bookworm my whole life, and I tell my kids and anyone else who'll listen that 1, reading is never a waste of time, no matter what you're reading, [this in response to those who tell me I should only read nonfiction], and 2, if you're a reader you're never bored. Book limbo, however, is often a thing for me. I'd got a tun of stuff to read, but don't feel like reading any of it.

This is an author right at the top of his game. Brent weeks has been a favourite since I read Black Prism, and that isn't changing any time soon. This book was thought provoking, laugh out loud funny at points and had me in tears for a significant part of the last quarter. Fabulous! Can't wait for the sequel, I'm so glad this is part of a planned trilogy! I want more.

I love this series, and each book catches me. Gave this one a 4, though, because it was harder to get into than the others, perhaps because of the change on characters. It took me for a plot twist or two, and ended amazingly.

I'm very much enjoying my reread of this series. I like the main character's character development, and the fact that in the end she wasn't forced to cave to her society's gender and societal strictures.

Starting a reread of this series in chronological rather than publication order. Actually, I haven't read the series even in publication order, I got what the library had at any given point in time, and that was 30 years ago. So this is a treat, and one long delayed. :) really enjoyed this, after the first 25% which dragged a bit for me. I feel like it sets the stage well for the rest of what's going to happen in the generations to come.
