I'm a 40something year old reader who likes mostly fantasy fiction, but can wander off into other fields on occasion. I've been a bookworm my whole life, and I tell my kids and anyone else who'll listen that 1, reading is never a waste of time, no matter what you're reading, [this in response to those who tell me I should only read nonfiction], and 2, if you're a reader you're never bored. Book limbo, however, is often a thing for me. I'd got a tun of stuff to read, but don't feel like reading any of it.

Given how much I like the ST. Mary's series, it's surprising how long it took me to read this book. Now, however, I've devoured it in as close to one sitting as I get these days, and loved it! Starting the next one in the series right away. Highly recommended.

Frank Herbert: Dune Messiah (2019, Penguin Publishing Group)

I'm glad this book was short, because I found it a bit of a slog. Much moreso than the first book in the series. For a short book it seemed to move at a snail's pace, though looking back quite a bit happened.

This series never disappoints! I love it so much! Now I have to wait a year to find out ... never mind. You'll see.

Loved this book, and am continuing the series. However, I think the narrator frequently is getting himself into his own trouble, and then complaining about the consequences. :) May be part of his character arc, however, because older Hadrian is frequently commenting on his behavior as a young man with some criticism.

Loved this, for the most part, even the scientific explanations which I can see some finding boring. The only reason I'm giving it a 4 rather than a 5 is uneven pacing. It was a page turner at times, but tended to lag in others. I understand this, because it required a lot of world building etc, but I think it could have been done more evenly.

Loved this. Couldn't put it down from start to finish. There were enough plot twists to make it surprising, even to me. Lol.

An amazing opening to a fascinating series. I've set out to reread the books I've read, the first 3 or so, and read as many of the rest as I can. I love this, particularly the audio version which is read by several, giving it depth and life.

This trilogy is amazing! Loved it as much this reread as I did the first time I read it. Happily going on to hear Imriel's story next.
