Sometimes I read really trashy fiction just to distract me from the universe at large.

finished reading The Temptation of Elminster by Ed Greenwood (The Elminster Series, #3)

Ed Greenwood: The Temptation of Elminster (1999, Wizards of the Coast) No rating

Been reading a bunch of Elminster books from a bundle I picked up, apparently wildly out of order. Woops. Feels weird to go backwards in time this hard, but the story was pretty okay. Interesting to see younger versions of the characters, but this particular narrative felt like it wandered all over the place.

A juvenile romp

Take several worn fantasy tropes, tie them together with the forced urgency of chase scenes and float it all on a thin foam of a constantly shifting viewpoint. Then spit out a trilogy, because that's how fantasy is sold now.

I am glad I got this for free from Kindle Unlimited. I think I'll skip the rest of the series.
