Clive James: Cultural Amnesia (2007, W. W. Norton) 4 stars

Review of 'Cultural Amnesia' on 'Goodreads'

5 stars

At times wordy, this is not a light read, but the sheer breadth of historical perspective in the form of insightful bibliographical essays makes this book worthwhile for even readers with a casual interest in modern history. I can't help but think that the art of the essay has dropped off in more recent times, and it crossed my mind that if clive James were a young writer now he would probably be a blogger. Sic transit gloria mundi.
