What most set [b:Eventide|89884|Eventide (Plainsong, #2)|Kent Haruf|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1320471712s/89884.jpg|1168090] apart from [b:Plainsong|77156|Plainsong (Plainsong, #1)|Kent Haruf|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1388200586s/77156.jpg|1402373] was that not all of the characters in this story were sympathetic, giving this book a distinct mood from its predecessor. While it didn't quite match [b:Plainsong|77156|Plainsong (Plainsong, #1)|Kent Haruf|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1388200586s/77156.jpg|1402373]'s sparse, haunting atmosphere, [b:Eventide|89884|Eventide (Plainsong, #2)|Kent Haruf|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1320471712s/89884.jpg|1168090] was a strong and worthy follow-up that I didn't want to end.
