Even though it doesn't portray itself as such, it felt autobiographical (also compared to the author descriptionat the end of the book there are a lof of commonalities).

I appreciate a book that highlights sickle cell. I have a friend who has it who disn't talk about kt for the first decade and a half I knew her and am pleased to see people not oy breaking this taboo but also really showing how this illness impacts people's romantic lives.

I would have appreciated different characters having more depth, I think I missed that in this book.
