I originally saw this book on Amazon after looking through a list of 2010 Pulitzer award winners (http://www.pulitzer.org/citation/2010-Fiction). It sounded interesting, so for $5.00, I purchased it on my Kindle.
It was a tough book to get through - not because of the story, but the style of writing. There were times I had to re-read a sentence (or paragraph) multiple times to figure out what the hell the author was saying (or trying to say). He was very wordy and some sentences seemed to go on and on.
The book improved after part 1 (not sure they could be called chapters), but it was still tough.
I think I expected a bit more given the original description I read on Amazon (http://www.amazon.com/Tinkers-Paul-Harding/dp/193413712X/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1303850206&sr=8-1). I expected more emotion.
In the end, I'm glad I read the book, but I'm not sure I could recommend it without a big disclaimer.
