Some metaphors I strained to fully get, but 'modern traditional' witchcraft with a 'small c catholic' exploration of deities and cultures (many among us in North America are multi-ethnic, multi-racial, multicultural) the way Laura Tempest Zakroff describes it appeals to me. I had the idea that this was a book geared to the beginner, so asides and nods to practitioners of advanced level and experience seemed jarring, a little.
I have seen some of Ms. Zakroff's dance group performances (my husband's niece was in two), I wish I had come to witchcraft reading earlier when I was in physical proximity to Ms. Zakroff, I feel I could have benefited more richly, but I did respectfully engage and challenge the text, and her tone is more welcoming and liberal than some other primers I read over the last year.
