Pretty as a Picture

I recommended Pretty as a Picture to a cineaste friend, which typically would merit five stars, but I am sad about the 'breaks' as a plural noun applied to a roller-coaster system. I think she'd appreciate the Hitchcock "quotes" and the Victory Red lipstick (she is a fan of a L.A. cosmetic company that recreated the colour).

This is a fun read, flirtation and banter realistic, with smart and assertive diverse characters, and admirable personal growth in a semi-parabolic arc.
