Rating this three stars by Gorey standards, which roughly translates to four stars for most other people. Published posthumously, [b:Saint Melissa the Mottled|13538887|Saint Melissa the Mottled|Edward Gorey|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1344313791s/13538887.jpg|19101239] has characteristic dark humour, macabre panache, excellent illustrations and ponderous, polysyllabic vocabulary but a nonlinear narrative. Appealing to us Gorey fans nonetheless for the unparalleled zaniness.
