"The once-utopian Chasm City a domed human settlement on an otherwise inhospitable planet has been overrun by a virus known as the Melding Plague, capable of infecting any body, organic or computerized. Now, with the entire city corrupted from its people to the very buildings they inhabit only the most wretched, grim sort of existence remains." -- Jacket.

Review of 'Chasm City' on 'Goodreads'

5 stars

After Revelation Space, I was pretty much in awe of Reynold's mastery of plot and idea. Chasm City didn't disappoint either: a Byzantine plot that ties three separate strands spanning centuries into a cohesive whole, a riff on the interaction of memory and identity, and lots of 'aha' moments and really enjoyable world building and characterisation. I enjoyed the Tantor audiobook version and John Lee's cynically world weary and dry voicing of the story fit perfectly.
