Refreshing to read fantasy that draws from Jewish culture

I loved reading about a fantasy land that was so familiar to me, drawing from Jewish culture. Especially the grammatical Yiddishisms. Rivka and Shulamit are delightful.
I found it a little hard to get into, because we saw into Shulamit thoughts so much in the beginning. However, once it picked up, I got caught up in the story and didn't notice that bothering me at all.
