Summary of Educated : A Memoir by Tara Westover

Very good book if you want to get really angry about some people you'll hopefully never meet.

It's amazing what some of the family achieved, and disgusting what others in the family were allowed to get away with.

What an experience. Take "Unfollow," put it in a box, and shake it up a bit. This is the story of hurt people hurting people, and the woman (and her siblings) who rose up and broke the cycle; it's hard to believe, but what I was more stuck by was how easy it was to believe. Surprising at every turn and well told by an earnest narrator with all her cards on the table, this book has to be experienced to really be understood.

A powerful synthesis of one woman's escape from a toxic, reality-distorting tribal faith. I think anyone who has had the way they understand the world destroyed and transformed will find pieces of themselves in Tara's story. This is one I need to reread every year, as a reminder.
